Recent reports of CIRE on the agreement between Tauron ‘Polska Energia’ SA and the Ministry of Energy on the construction of the Water Power Plant Rożnów II can probably be considered, as the first swallow of the reshaping attitude of the state authorities to resume the development of peak and pump power in our country. It can also be hoped that, in the face of the ongoing climate change, understanding will regain the need for greater care for the conventional water economy and the role that care can and should play in maintaining and developing classical hydroenergy in our country. These are the reasons for considering the subject of the annual Polish Hydroenergy Conferences HYDROFORUM as fully current, and the conferences themselves - as one of the drivers conducive to beneficial changes in Polish energy, environmental and educational policies.
This year's HYDROFORUM conference will be held on 21-22 October at the Warsaw Hotel in Augustów. The location results from a planned study visit to the Kruonis Hydroelectric Power Plant in Lithuania, where the installation of a variable speed hydroset block is now coming to an end. This will be a good opportunity to include new technologies in high-pressure energy in the agenda. As in previous years, the organizers are the Water Power Plant Society (TEW), the Institute of Flow Machines of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IMP PAN) and the Society for the Development of Small Water Power Plant (TRMEW). Ignitis Gammyba (owner and operator of EW Kruonis) and Voith Hydro – supplier of equipment for the new power plant block are also involved in the event. Further information is available in the HYDROFORUM Communication. People interested in the topic of the conference are invited to register online soon, from the website https://hydroforum.tew.pl, or by sending us a completed registration form.
