On 21 March 2024, during the gala of the 14th edition of the LIDER Program, employee of the Institute of Flow Machines of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Dr. Łukasz Witanowski received a symbolic check from the Director of the National Bank for financing the implementation of the research project entitled Innovative cold heat production technology (COOLERHEAT).
Dr. Ł. Witanowski's project responds to an increase in cooling power demand, rising electricity prices and the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The main objective of the project is to develop a system for the production of cold from waste heat. The key element of the system is a hermetic and high-speed turbocharger, which thanks to its unique design is characterized by its high efficiency in the wide performance characteristics of the system. This system will be applied in various industrial sectors, offering an efficient and cost-effective way to cool. The project represents an important step forward in the development of sustainable refrigeration technologies that are essential in today's rapidly changing world.
The LIDER programme aims to improve the skills of young scientists in self-planning, management and management of the research team through the implementation of research projects whose results may be practical and with implementation potential. Applications submitted in the competition may cover topics from all fields of science: natural sciences, engineering and technical sciences, medical and health sciences, agriculture, as well as social and humanities. Projects should include application research and development. In the recently decided 14th Programme competition, 364 young scientists submitted applications to the NCBR and 49 people received funding.
