In early October it was 50 years since the scientific and technical conference HYDROFORUM’73 organized by the Institute of Flow Machines of the Polish Academy of Sciences and Energy Plants of the Northern District. The annual Polish Hydroenergy Conferences of HYDROFORUM are now continuing the conference cycle. The permanent co-organizers are the Water Power Plant Society, the Institute of Flow Machinery PAS and the Society for the Development of Small Water Power Plant. This year's conference was held on October 25-26 at the Scandic Wrocław Hotel. The local co-organizer was the Mechanical and Energy Department of Wrocław University of Technology. The meeting was held under the patronage of the Committee of Energy Problems of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the State Water Farm “Polish Waterworks”, the Association of Polish Electricians and the Association of Water Engineers and Meliorative Techniques.
116 people representing 50 institutions, businesses and NGOs took part in the event. During 10 conference sessions 35 lectures were given. The central item on the first day was the HYDROFORUM Debate on "Pumpy-peak energy and its dilemmas". The debate was chaired by the honorary president of TEW, Mr Stanisław Lewandowski, and behind the panel table were representatives of the management staff of ZEW Niedzica SA, Energia Wytwarenie SA, Enea Nowa Energia Sp. z o.o. and Tauron Ekoenergia Sp. z o.o.
The conference was opened by the director and professor of IMP PAN, Dr Marcin Lackowski. The jubilee nature of the event was emphasized by a commemorative speech by the president of TEW and the employee of the IMP PAS Heat Energy Centre, Dr Janusz Steller, and in the evening - a glass of sparkling wine, which began the traditional reception of HYDROFORUM. The conference was linked to a studio visit to Malczyca Water Level on 27 October. Some participants took the opportunity to visit the monastery team in Lubiż – a magnificent pearl of Lower Silesian architecture, one of the largest monuments of this kind in Europe.
A book of summaries, containing texts of conference papers in the form of summaries or mini-articles, was made available from the pages of IMP PAN and TEW all interested before the conference. When writing text from TEW http://hydroforum.tew.pl/index.php/en/ photo reports of the whole event are also available. Conference presentations and a conference report will also be made available on the same page at the beginning of December. Before the end of the year, some authors will be invited to prepare post-conference articles for publication in the quarterly “Water Energy” and in the scientific journal IMP PAN “Transactions of the Institute of Fluid-Flow Machinery”.
