Turbomachinery Workshop
From 1986, on the initiative of the former director of the Institute, prof. Jerzy Krzyżanowski, the Department managed to gather a large European scientific community around the subject of new tools for engineering and energy conversion of turbomachinery:
- representatives of the Universities in Stuttgart, Dresden, Prague (Czech Republic), representatives of the Silesian University of Technology, Gdańsk University of Technology and the initiator - the Institute of Fluid-Flow Machinery of the Polish Academy of Sciences,
- representatives of industry
This community has been operating for years as Workshop Turbomachinery (WT). WT are organized almost every year. Turbine Department of IMP PAN organizes a workshop every 5 years on average, including:

SYMKOM IMP2
The conference follows the tradition of meetings of people who conduct scientific research and development activities in the field of turbomachinery: turbines, compressors and pumps, as well as in the area of modern power engineering technologies, energy storage, wind energy and flow modeling. The symposium is organized by two scientific centres:
- Institute of Fluid-Flow Machinery, Polish Academy of Sciences in Gdansk,
- Institute of Turbomachinery, Lodz University of Technology.
