A cruise to Rożnowski Lake and a study visit to the Rożn Power Plant ended on 9 October this year Polish Hydroenergy Conference HYDROFORUM 2025. The conference was attended by 124 participants, including 15 people from outside our country – Austria, China, Czech Republic, Canada, Norway, Slovenia, Ukraine and the USA. During the two days preceding the study visit, 33 papers were held and 2 panel debates were held on the following issues: the participation of water energy – and in particular of peak and pump energy – in the regulation of the electricity system and the problems of maintaining hydrotechnical infrastructure in our country in the face of climate change and energy transformation.
The following entities took the patronage over the whole event: Ministry of Infrastructure, PGW Polish Waters, Cracow University of Technology and TAURON Group, which also provided financial support, and through its daughter companies TAURON Ekoenergia and Ecoserwis, joined the organizational activities conducted jointly by the Water Power Plant Society (TEW), the Institute of Flow Machines of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Society for the Development of Small Water Power Plants (TRMEW).
The conference was opened by the director of the Institute of Flow Machines, Prof. Marcin Lackowski, who participated in the further part of the meeting together with his deputy for scientific affairs, Professor Grzegorz Żywica. Among other significant participants of the conference are Magdalena Żmuda (from the President of the Polish Waters PGW), Mr. Mariusz Mazur (director of the Energy Institute), Prof. Maciej Sułowicz (deal of the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the Cracow University of Technology), Mr. Wadim Rassowski (president of the association “Hydroenergetics of Ukraine” and the chief engineer and of the director of the company “Ukrhydroener”. Polish hydro-energy associations represented the presidents of their boards – Mr Ewa Malicka (TRMEW) and Dr Janusz Steller (TEW).
