Friday 2 December 2016 will be the final of the team competition EKOTECH 2016 under honorary patronage of the Director of IMP PAS and President of the City of Gdańsk. This is the fifth edition of the tournament promoting renewable energy sources, intended for high school students. Its aim is to promote knowledge of RES and to support technical skills among young people.
The three-member groups representing the school will be tasked with designing and constructing a small windmill and showing knowledge of the basic issues on the widely understood renewable energy. The competition consists of two stages. Stage I is to prepare the technical design of the windmill. Among the reported works, based on the number of points awarded, 15 teams will be selected to present prototypes of their devices during stage II. In the final of the competition, students will compete in two parts: practical and theoretical:
- The practical part is to present the windmill model described in the technical design and to perform measurements to determine the power of the constructed equipment.
- In the theoretical part, participants answer simple questions about renewable energy. In addition to using wind energy, which is the theme of the competition, the test also includes questions about other RES and conventional energy.
In addition, students will have the opportunity to visit our research laboratories and to listen to a passionate lecture by Dr. Paweł Flaszyński on computer simulations in the process of designing aerodynamic devices including wind turbine components. The participants will also be waiting for a warm and sweet treat, and the winners of valuable prizes.
Final programme:
09.00 - 09.45 | Registration of participants (at the reception of the Institute) |
09.45 - 10.00 | Welcome to the Hall |
10.00 - 10.45 | Lecture “ Numeric simulations in aerodynamics” by Dr. Paweł Flaszyński |
11.00 - 15.00 | Windmill power measurements, lunch, test and trip to the laboratory |
