Investigations
Currently, the Department of Ionized Gas Engineering and Physics is conducting research on:
- Design and improvement of microwave devices to the plasma generation,
- Improvement of plasma generators where gas destruction reactions occur,
- Spectroscopic methods for diagnosing plasma (measurement of plasma gas temperature, measurement of concentration and temperature of electrons in plasma),
- Modeling of chemical reaction kinetics in the test plasma,
- Tests on the efficiency of the plasma method for the elimination of gaseous harmful substances,
- methane reforming (hydrogen production) by microwave discharge at atmospheric pressure,
- Generation of microwave microdischarges.
Laboratory infrastructure
The plant has rich microwave equipment and long-term experience in microwave discharge technology. We have, among others, continuous and pulsed magnetron microwave generators, waveways, directional couplings, microwave power meters, etc., flow devices (including rotameters, electronic gas flow rate regulators, nozzles of different designs). In our work we support the equipment of the other plants of the centre, including gas diagnostic, spectroscopic plasma diagnosis and flow visualization.
