Project objective:
The purpose of the project is to analyse the impact of hydrogen in natural gas on the process of compressing the mixture in gas pressing stations. Firstly, typical flow systems of methane compressors will be simulated by numerical fluid dynamics (RANS) methods for different mixtures. Maximum levels of hydrogen admixtures will be specified, which do not require interference in the design of compressors. In addition, the impact of hydrogen on parameters such as efficiency, power and consumption of compressors will be determined. Numerical simulation results will also be compared with one-dimensional modelling using empirical loss correlation. However, for mixtures where the hydrogen content is higher than the maximum specified, new compressor flow systems as well as guidelines for their design will be proposed. MES strength analyses will also be performed.
