On behalf of the Council of Rectors of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, all co-organizers and own I invite you to participate in the 12th Baltic Science Festival, a popular scientific event organized by universities of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, scientific institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences, industry institutes and other institutions of our region related to science.
The festival is addressed to a wide range of coastal and regional society regardless of education. The festival offer is ever richer and includes over 860 various events prepared by nearly 4,600 people from 40 institutions this year. During this year's edition will be held, among other things, in Gdynia, in Skwera Kościuszko XV Scientific Picnic (25 May) and in Sopot, in Zdrojowy Square before entering pier VII Sopocki Day of Science (24 May).
The aim of the festival is to spread the subject matter and achievements of scientific research and to bring them closer to the public in the most understandable, attractive form possible - to develop the curiosity of the world and the joy of its study. We would like to draw attention to the value and usefulness of research conducted in numerous laboratories and scientific institutions. In the following editions of the festival, we place particular emphasis on presenting the place that the sea occupies in scientific research and the values that the Baltic Sea carries for our region.
A common awareness of the role of research in improving the comfort of everyday life is essential. This is difficult to achieve when most citizens are afraid of science because they do not understand it. Ignorance in this field can be incredibly great! Projects like the Science Festival can effectively change that.
The role of the festival is extremely inclusive. It's hard to overestimate. There is little opportunity for representatives of so many and so many different individuals to meet to implement a joint project.
We hope that in the prepared programme you will find interesting proposals that will stimulate the desire to gain and deepen knowledge. We would like to prove that science does not just lock itself in wise books. We believe that we will be able to combine it with interesting fun and entertainment, which we also wish you, and we warmly wish you.
As every year - traditionally in May - we are waiting for you on the Baltic!
