The Polish Hydroenergy Conferences of RENEXPO Poland have been organized since 2011 by the Water Power Plant Society together with the Institute of Flow Machines of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Society for the Development of Small Water Power Plants, in constant cooperation with the REECO GmbH Group. Despite their name, they have international scope and are conducted using simultaneous translation. This year's conference received support from Energa SA Group (platinum sponsor) and PGE Energia Odnawialna SA and TB Hydro. ZEW Porębka-Żar (PGE EO SA Branch in Międzybrodzi Bialski) took on the role of host on the second day of the conference. The Institute of Energy O/Gdansk provided the possibility of printing conference materials.
The conference took place on 20-21 September at the Ibis Styles Hotel in Bielsko-Biała, immediately after the 20th National Assembly of the Water Power Plant Society. The first day of the event was attended by conference meetings, the second day - a technical visit to the dam in Tresna and the Water Power Plant Pork-Żar. The event was addressed to the broadly understood water energy sector, including representatives and employees of hydro-energy companies and private owners of hydro-electric power plants, as well as service and equipment providers, design offices, consulting companies, universities and other research and development centres.
The XXX-year anniversary of the foundation of the Society for the Development of Small Water Power Plants was a good opportunity for the president of Ewa Malicka to give an opening speech. Members of the Management Board of TRMEW also spoke during the first session – devoted mainly to the legal and economic conditions of water power. The second session was an introduction to the panel debate on the sharing of maintenance costs for multitasking facilities. The opportunities for water energy to rebuild the electricity system and benefits for water management have been presented, as well as algorithms for optimizing the generation of electricity in multi-block facilities and sharing costs among users of structures that pile up their benefits. In the scientific and technological segment, the contributions concerned supporting the design of water turbines using CFD methods, water microenergy and the impact of variable work of small hydroelectric power plants on hydrological conditions and the state of the natural environment on the lower water side. The employees of the IMP PAS Hydrodynamics Centre were authors or co-authors of three of the 15 lectures delivered.
Those who reached the end – participants of the last PKH RENEXPO Poland 2018 session on the steps of the Ibis Styles hotel in Bielsko Biała.
45 people attended the conference – about twice as many as in previous years. The reduced turnout resulted from an unexpected collision with the 50th anniversary of the Solina Water Dam and Power Plant and with the 1st Congress of Inland Shipping in Opole. This was the price for the decision to move the meeting from October to September at the beginning of the year. The aim was to postpone the terms of PKH RENEXPO Poland and HYDRO 2018. In 2019, the organizers intend to return to the October deadline.
A more comprehensive report from the conference will be released within the next month. The Summary Book is already available Here..
