The next step in implementing the strategy of the Green University is the framework agreement, concluded between the University of Gdańsk and the Institute of Flow Machines PAS, which is the author and owner of modern electricity generation technologies. Cooperation between the two units is not only the initiation of joint research and development work, the implementation of innovative technological solutions in the field of renewable energy sources, but also a real chance for the university to gain energy autonomy in the future.

The framework agreement on cooperation on December 12 this year was signed by: Rector of the University of Gdańsk Prof. Piotr Stepnowski, and Director of IMP PAS Dr. Marcin Lackowski, Prof. IMP PAN.

- I'm sorry. Cooperation between our institutions is of strategic importance. Not only from the point of view of equipping the university campus with modern renewable energy technologies, but this is also a response to crisis situations, which can include, for example, our eastern border of war. Environmental actions, in line with the objectives of sustainable development, therefore have a measurable economic effect, which in the current situation is invaluable - says Prof. Piotr Stepnowski, Rector of the UG. "We also hope that, under this cooperation, the SG will increasingly be involved in numerous RES projects, including social research. Issues of social reception of energy projects, building of social communication models in this area, or addressing risk management problems, are essential to market this type of technology. The University of Gdańsk in the field of social sciences is an excellent partner for cooperation.

- The Institute of Flow Machines of the Polish Academy of Sciences is known for the development of technologies and devices which are used in energy, among others, and this area is particularly important in the context of our cooperation. However, the agreement concerns cooperation in many fields, especially scientific fields - says Dr. Marcin Lackowski, Prof. IMP PAN, Director of IMP PAN. The Institute represents the discipline of mechanical engineering. It seems that cooperation with the University of Gdańsk on many research projects where we meet with broader issues: social, biological, physics, mathematics, economics or law - opens up the possibility of mutual complementing in these projects

The scientific nature of cooperation is also emphasized by Professor Wiesław Ostachowicz, Chairman of the Scientific Council of IMP PAS, member of the correspondent of the Polish Academy of Sciences. "At the university, we have a wide range of directions, many scientists from very different fields, we hope that this agreement will facilitate our contact with them. I would also like to point out that the Institute has great potential for foreign cooperation in high-ranking projects. That's what distinguishes us. We hope that cooperation will open the way for us to talk and then to cooperate further in foreign projects.

The Agreement covers the following areas:

Initiating research and development in the framework of the common area of interest of IMP PAS and the University of Gdańsk,
Launching and implementing projects to develop and implement innovative technological solutions in the field of renewable energy sources, energy self-sufficiency, social conditions for the implementation of innovation in the areas of cooperation established by the parties,
individual and joint efforts to raise funds from national and European sources of funding for the implementation of these projects,
promoting cooperation between IMP PAN and the University of Gdańsk,
organisation of joint events and workshops promoting the educational profile corresponding to the expectations of IMP PAN and in accordance with the profile of student education,
execution of orders for public institutions, economic entities and the socio-economic environment in areas where both the IMP PAS and the University of Gdańsk specialises,
other joint actions to develop science, technology and social conditions for the implementation of joint ventures in areas identified by the parties to the agreement.

The partners of the agreement will jointly apply (e.g. to the Ministry of Education and Science and other decision-making centres as well as partners - economic institutions interested in the use of modern energy solutions) for funds for the implementation of research and development work, enabling the implementation of innovative projects. Specific projects undertaken in the framework of cooperation will be carried out by the preferred and delegated entities for cooperation within individual projects.

The meeting, which took place on December 12th in the Rectorate of UG from the Institute of Flow Machines of the Polish Academy of Sciences, took place: dr hab. Marcin Lackowski, prof. IMP PAN, Director of IMP PAN, prof. Dr. Wiesław Ostachowicz, Member of the correspondent of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Dr. Grzegorz Zywica, Professor IMP PAN, Deputy Director of Scientific Affairs and Mr. Marzen Patolet, Plenipotentiary of the Director of the Polish Academy of Sciences and International Cooperation.

The following were present from the UG side: Prof. Piotr Stepnowski, Rector of UG, Dr. Sylwia Mrozowska, Prof. UG, Proctor for Cooperation and Development, Project Coordinator, Dr. Krzysztof Szczepaniak, Director of the Centre for Sustainable Development, Mr Jacek Jętczak, Chancellor of UG, Mr Leszek Fiertek, Deputy Chancellor for Infrastructure and Administration, and Dr. Mirosław Czapiewski, holding a stand for innovation projects.

The agreement was concluded for an indefinite period and enters into force on the date of its signature.
