The Institute of Flow Machines of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Gdańsk was awarded the Energy Globe National Award 2015, for the implementation and coordination of the national project POIG.01.02-00-016/08 "Model agroenergy complexes ...", as one of over 1500 best ecological projects from 177 countries worldwide.
The project was led by Prof. Jan Kiciński, together with the leaders of thematic groups from several centres in the country: Dr. Eng. G. Żywica, Dr. Eng. E. Ihnatowicz (with IMP PAN), Prof. J. Gołaszewski (with UWM in Olsztyn), Prof. M. Kułażyński (with Pol. Wrocławska) and Dr. Eng. T. Golce (with Inst. Energetyka).
The recognition of experts and international jury of the Institute and the team of developers earned for the development of modern environmentally friendly technologies, including in particular for the development of a prototype of a small home CHP ORC with four variants of steam microturbines and three variants of multi-fuel boilers, for solutions concerning fermentation and recycling bioreactors of a new type, SOFC fuel cell systems coupled to the biomass gas system, and finally prototypes of small wind turbines and low-fall picoturbines.
This award is now one of the most famous and prestigious environmental awards. Projects from around the world to preserve and protect our natural resources or use renewable energy are presented for the award. The aim of the award is to present successful projects in the field of sustainable development of the wider community and to show that for many of our environmental problems there are already good solutions that can be implemented in other parts of the world.
The ENERGY GLOBE certificate is an international recognition mark for sustainable development.
