Flow machines
The work of Flow Machines is a publishing series of the Institute of Flow Machines of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Gdańsk, founded by Prof. Eustache S. Burka, planned ultimately as a compact publishing house, dedicated to original monographic studies, which have as a basis for national research and world achievements, concerning the theory and experimental research in the field of mechanics and thermodynamics of flows in flow machines, i.e. steam turbines, gas and water turbines, pumps, compressors, marine propulsors, gears and hydrokinetic couplings, stream devices and equipment for direct change of heat on electricity.
In the field of steam turbines, therefore, these are issues of energy conversion in single- and two-phase flows in high-power turbines taking into account condensation of steam in the turbine outlet part. In gas turbines these are, among others, issues of gas flow in vane systems and seals, problems of cooling blades and bodies. In the field of hydraulic machines (turbines, pumps, clutches, gears and propulsors) these are issues of spatial unset flows and cavitation problems. In the field of all rotor machines – the dynamics of rotors and bearings.
The multivolume work of Flow Machines is a unique in Poland and in the world such a wide and comprehensive discussion of the problems in flow machines, it is an important factor in the process of training scientific and engineering staff in Poland.
The adoption of publications for print in the Flow Machines series is based on positive reviews from at least two specialists in the field. The authors declare that the published works are the result of their work and do not infringe in any way the copyright of third parties. Authors are obliged to obtain all necessary permissions to use in the publication charts, drawings, photographs by third parties.
The authors of publications published in the IMP PAN Publishing Company are both employees from IMP PAN as well as from other academic centres, as well as representatives of industry dealing with scientific activities.
